This assures our residents timely intervention and the best possible medical care. Residents are also welcome to retain the health care services of their private physicians.

Dental Services

Our dentist visits Elcor weekly to provide all necessary dental services in our modern, fully equipped dental suite.

Rehabilitation for that "get up and go" feeling!

Our rehabilitation program combines the skill of registered physical and occupational therapists. These professionals design, monitor, evaluate and provide individual therapy programs for residents. This individualized therapy program improves functional abilities and enhances quality of life.

Rehab services are available seven days a week. Hot packs and stimulating massages that rejuvenate and create a deep down warm felling are provided in our therapy suites. After successfully achieving rehabilitative goals, many residents return to their homes and families.

Speech and audiology evaluations and treatments are also available and arranged as needed.

Courtyards and Covered Patios For the fun of it!

Elcor offers protected outside areas for residents to enjoy. Gardens are planned, planted and enjoyed by many of our residents. Bird baths and wind chimes add a touch of home.

Special Events
Always something to do.

There are a variety of activities that take place at Elcor-from our own extensive social and recreational schedule, to entertainment and educational events offered by community groups. These festivities help create the home-like, family atmosphere of Elcor. Activities may also be arranged in resident's rooms for people more comfortable in a personal setting. Religious services are held weekly and during religious holidays.

Choice Menus A fine dining experience!

Whether residents join friends in the dining room, choose to eat in the privacy of their own room or entertain family in our private dining room, our goal is to prepare meals that taste great, look great and of course, meet nutritional guidelines. Elcor offers special dining menus and choice of meals so that residents may enjoy a variety of tempting selections.

Planned Excursions for people on the go!

Cruising along Seneca Lake on Captain Bill's . . . and other cultural events keep residents busy and in touch with the community. Lunch clubs going to area restaurants . . . trips to the ball park . . . shopping at the mall . . . all are a part of life at Elcor!

Continuing Education Classes Sharing experiences and knowledge with friends

Community members with special interests volunteer their time to teach various courses at Elcor. Course work has included Chemung County History, The Art of Folklore and African Culture, Poetry Writing, Ceramics, and many more. Resident participation has been great and the Activities Department continues to make residents aware of up-coming courses.

Social Services Support and Assistance

As part of our on-going commitment to residents and family members, we offer family support meetings, counseling, financial planning and assistance with admissions, as well as a plan for returning home.

Big Band

When you visit Elcor, you will hear the sounds of music and instrument playing coming from unit dining rooms and will observe smiles and laughter coming from the residents. This is Big Band in action. This exciting new program was designed by Ann Marie Bradley of Dementia Solutions to provide social interaction and enjoyment for residents with middle stage dementia; those that don’t normally do well in traditional activity programs.

We start each Big Band session by welcoming the residents and asking them to choose an instrument. The stereo then gets cranked up with such musical favorites as “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad”, “Baby Face” and “Alexander’s Ragtime Band”. Four facilitators encourage residents to sing, clap their hands, tap their feet or play an instrument…any resident interaction is a success. The old-time music taps into residents’ intact long term memories, allowing them to recall their personal history and feel successful, useful and wanted.

We believe these sessions contribute to the quality of our residents’ lives by improving mood and increasing opportunities for positive social interaction. It is also rewarding for the employee facilitators who see a “spark of life” in our less cognizant residents.

Steaming Baths

Imagine relaxing in a whirlpool bath. Enjoy the bubbles and the fragrance while your hair is being washed and your personal needs attended.

Rainbow Ridge and Fresh, Hot Popcorn!

The Rainbow Ridge Ice Cream Parlor serves hard ice cream which is hand dipped daily for residents and staff. Other choices include warm pretzels and funnel cakes.

Hot buttered, "movie" popcorn is made daily in the cafeteria and is also available to both staff and residents alike. The cafeteria is always open for residents and family members to gather, dine and have a good time.

Personal Services Made to Order

Salon suites are staffed by professional beauticians and barbers. Residents may select hair styles and colors with the comfort of knowing their instructions will be followed through to their satisfaction. Personal laundry and housekeeping services are also provided.

Resident Care Plan

Stay as involved as you want. A comprehensive plan of care is developed by our team of professionals under the guidance of the attending physician. A thorough assessment of each resident's needs guides the staff in designing and implementing an individualized care plan. Family members are invited and encouraged to attend care plan meetings.

We have a large, active group of volunteers who donate their time to assist residents with shopping, activities, crafts, mending, letter writing and other needs, as well as providing caring companionship. New volunteers are always welcome at Elcor!

Companion Radio: Available to everyone at anytime. All four stations (Serenity, Reminiscence, Imagination and Potpourri) operate 365 days a year. Music from the 30s, 40s and 50s and old time radio shows are broadcast daily. While at Elcor, entertainment, comfort and companionship are always near. For more information about Companion Radio or for a broadcast schedule, visit their web site by pointing your browser to www.frontiernet.net/~networx/index.html.
