Our Mission

To create a flourishing residential community by constantly seeking to discover better ways to live and work together and by building upon the best of what we have already accomplished.

Our Vision

We envision for our residents normalcy and individualized quality care. We will work in partnership to create the best of "home:" an environment of friendship, spontaneity, creativity, comfort and pleasure. We envision a place where each of us is known; where each is comfortable being one’s self, where each of us wants to be. And we envision a thriving and growing community, full of life and vitality, in which all are welcome and all contribute.

Our Values

We believe in the importance of knowing the resident.

We believe in the importance of the resident’s maintaining control in daily decision-making and in daily routine.

We believe in the powerful potential for growth, development, and contribution in all our residents and all our staff.

We believe in the power and importance of relationship, one to another, and in the value of community building.

We believe in the value of teamwork, in knowledgeable and responsible decision-making, in facing challenges as a community.

We believe in celebrating accomplishments.

We are willing to take reasonable risks, to try new things.

We revere the elders, nurture the children, respect our families, welcome our visitors, value the contributions of our volunteers, and honor our staff members.

Our fellow citizens who need to be in a warm and safe place always have been and always will be the main focus of our mission at Fairport Baptist Homes. Services at the 196-bed Alvin C. Foster Residential Health Care Facility consist of a wide variety of levels of care, including skilled nursing care. Skilled nursing care is for persons whose needs range up to round-the-clock monitoring and extensive nursing care. Some residents require assistance for all the activities of daily living. Fairport Baptist Homes consists of 18 long-term care households (178 beds) and two rehabilitative care households in the Transitional Care Center (18 beds). From Hallways to Households: Changing the Culture in Nursing Homes The journey to a "new" Fairport Baptist Homes began in March 1997 and ended in August 1999 as "From Hallways to Households: Changing the Culture in Nursing Homes" came to fruition. Fairport Baptist Homes is one of the national leaders in the return to "rampant normalcy." Gone are the long hallways and the noise of carts and equipment being rolled to and fro. Gone is the "hospital" model that became so prevalent in nursing facilities throughout the nation in the 1960s. In its place is home. The 20 households consist of nine, 10 and 12 residents each, and each household is a traditional family home -- a radical departure from the "hallways" concept that exists in almost all nursing homes throughout the nation. Admission is open to all regardless of age, race, creed, color, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, or source of payment. Payment mechanisms include private pay, Medicaid, Medicare, and long-term care insurance.
