Riverhead, once a part of Southold, was established by the New York State Assembly on March 13, 1792. At the time it was known as Aquebogue. The Hamlet had two mills, five houses and a courthouse. As in most colonial towns, the mainstay of Riverhead's economy was agriculture.

Today, Riverhead is still quite a productive agricultural area, but instead of the mills of yesteryear we now see horses, sod farms, vineyards and fresh vegetable stands.

Foxwood Village, nestled in a country setting is located in Riverhead. The vllage is convenient to the amenities of Eastern Long Island and offers easy access to major highways leading to New York City and both Orient Point and Montauk Point. What amenities do you offer?
~ Foxwood Village has a fully equipped recreation center with two kitchens, library w/fireplace, game room, exercise room, bar, and our bingo hall. Swimming pool, shuffleboard and boccie are a few of the outdoor activities. In addition, there are security patrols and a gatehouse.

Who can live in Foxwood Village?
~ At least one person must be 55 years or older. This age restriction in Foxwood Village is set by the Federal Fair Housing Act Amendment of 1988. Other rules and regulations are established by Foxwood Village to protect the quality of life for its residents.

What do I own as a resident?
~ Your purchase of a manufactured home is classified as personal property. Each home is placed on a concrete foundation. Garages, decks and all-season rooms may be added. Homes are delivered with driveways, walkways, patios and lawns. Title to your home is conveyed by a bill of sale from Foxwood Corporation and a certificate of origin from the manufacturer. Foxwood Corporation maintains the common grounds, recreation center, and all utility services to the homes.

What is land lease and who pays the real estate taxes?
~ The property on which your home is located is leased to you. If is a lifetime lease and is protected by the real property law, State of New York, section 233. Annual lease adjustment (May 1st) is permitted, but in no event shall the increase be greater than the cost of living adjustment for the metropolitan area. Real estate taxes are paid by the resident.

Taxes will differ depending on the value of the home and additions. Veteran, S.T.A.R. and age exemptions are available to those residents who qualify.

What about monthly charges for utilities?
~ Every home is individually metered for electric and gas.

What about water, sewerage and trash removal?
~ Management's responsibility, we also provide 24-hour service for emergencies.

Is public transportation available?
~ Yes. The town provides mini-bus service to most points within town including connections to the county bus service.

What about shopping?
~ There are four major shopping areas located within a mile of the village, all of which are regular stops on the mini-bus route.

Arwe there medical facilities nearby?
~ Yes, Peconic Bay Medical Center is located just down the road from the village. There are many physicians covering a wide range of specializations within the are. Free ambulance service is available as well.

Are there churches nearby?
~ Yes, churches of all denominations are located within a two-mile radius of the village.

What about golfing, swimming and recreation?
~ There are numerous golf courses within a few miles. The Long Island Sound, Peconic Bay and the Atlantic Ocean are also a few minutes away. The village is centrally located and easily accessible to...the vineyards, anyique shops, museums, the Atlantis Aquarium, restaurants, beaches and specialty shops of the North and South Forks.

Can grandchildren, friends or relatives visit?
~ Of course, at any time.

May I park my recreation vehicle or boat in the village?
~ Yes ther eis a specially designated parking area on the premises.
